How to set up severe weather alerts on your Android

Unlock your Android device and access the home screen.

Open the "Settings" app, which typically looks like a gear or cogwheel icon and can be found in your app drawer or by swiping down from the top of the screen and tapping the gear-shaped icon.

Scroll down and select "Apps & notifications" or a similar option, which might vary depending on your Android version.

In the Apps & notifications section, look for "Advanced" or "Advanced settings" and tap on it.

Scroll down again to find "Emergency alerts" or "Wireless emergency alerts." Tap on this option.

Toggle on "Emergency alerts." This enables your Android device to receive severe weather alerts, AMBER Alerts, and other important notifications.

You can also customize the types of alerts you want to receive by tapping on "Emergency alert settings" or a similar option, which is typically located below the toggle switch.

You might also find an option for "Alert reminder" or "Alert sound" in the emergency alert settings. These options allow you to choose the sound or vibration pattern for alerts and set how often you receive reminders.

After configuring your alert preferences, tap the back button or navigate back to the main settings menu.

Make sure your device's location services (GPS) are turned on, as this helps the alerts be more accurate based on your current location.
